Material Speculation: ISIS di Morehshin Allahyari su Link Cabinet – Documentazione
Dal 2 Dicembre 2016 al 5 Febbraio 2017 Link Cabinet ha ospitato Material Speculation: ISIS, un progetto di Morehshin Allahyari.
Morehshin Allahyari utilizza la tecnologia per la stampa 3D come uno strumento alternativo di archiviazione di opere e manufatti, così come una modalità peculiare di documentazione e resistenza politica. Nella serie Material Speculation: ISIS alcuni reperti di valore storico distrutti dall’ISIS nel 2015. Dopo un lungo lavoro di ricerca e dopo aver raccolto un grande numero di immagini e documenti degli oggetti distrutti, Allahyari è stata in grado di ricreare e stampare in 3D dei manufatti.

Material Speculation: ISIS by Morehshin Allahyari at Link Cabinet – Documentation
From December 2, 2016 to February 5, 2017 Link Cabinet presented Material Speculation: ISIS, a project by Morehshin Allahyari.
Morehshin Allahyari uses 3D printing technology as a tool for alternative artifact archiving, as well as a means of political resistance and documentation. In her series Material Speculation: ISIS she reconstructs selected artifacts of historical value that were destroyed by ISIS in 2015. After collecting and researching vast numbers of images and documents of the destroyed objects, she is able to recreate and print a 3D model of the artifact.

Untitled di Giovanni Fredi a Link Cabinet – Documentazione
Dal 22 Ottobre al 19 Novembre 2016, Link Cabinet ha ospitato Untitled, un’opera inedita di Giovanni Fredi.
L’opera è un nuovo capitolo di To my deacesed, serie che già altri video e opere web-based. Il progetto è nato da una libera rielaborazione del Quingming Festival, una festività tradizionale cinese dedicata alla commemorazione dei defunti. L’usanza vuole che come offerta rituale vengano bruciati i cosiddetti joss paper, riproduzioni in carta di oggetti e beni di vario genere, in modo che questi doni possano allietare i propri avi. Più recentemente è stata adottata la pratica di bruciare riproduzioni di banconote, carte di credito, automobili, smartphone e strumenti tecnologici. (more…)
Untitled by Giovanni Fredi at Link Cabinet – Documentation
From October 22 to November 19, 2016 Link Cabinet presented Untitled, a new work by Giovanni Fredi.
The art work is a new iteration of To my deacesed, a project that already included some video and web-based works. The project is inspired by the Qingming Festival, a traditional event in China to remember and honour the ancestors. During this event people use to burn joss papers, paper replicas of different kind of objects as offerings to be enjoyed by the deceased during their afterlife. More recently joss paper include paper currency, credit cards replicas, cars, luxury objects, smartphones and digital devices in general. (more…)
